RYA Coastal / Yachtmaster theory

This is an advanced navigation course for more experienced skippers who has the ambition to sail on a professional level. The RYA/MCA Coastal/ Yachtmaster shorebased certificate is also your entry ticket to work professionally on yachts up to 24m.

With this RYA Coastal / Yachtmaster theory course you will have necessary knowledge to do the practical Coastal skipper course and/or the pass the Yachtmaster offshore practical exam . The RYA/MCA Coastal skipper / Yachtmaster skipper shore based certificate is valid for motor and sail yachts.

Recommended pre-course experience	RYA Dayskipper practical sail or similar experience RYA Dayskipper practical motor or similar skills experience
Assumed knowledge	RYA Dayskipper shorebased certificate or similar knowledge
Minimum age	18 years
Course content	Lights & day shape from ships Safety equipment & emergency situations Weather forecast and meteorology Advanced reading and understanding navigational charts Plotting a course including the tidal currants Calculating tidal heights including secondary ports International regulations for prevention of collision at sea Use of electronic navigation Basics about stability Preparing a longer distance passage plan Day & night pilotage plan

Ability after the course	Having the theoretical knowledge to skipper safely a sail or motor yacht during the day & night up to 150 Nm from save haven.
